Every Rose Has Its Thorn is a side quest in Dragon's Dogma 2 where you help Wilhelmina with a grave task. This quest leads to one of two major romances in the game, and it's one of the more compelling optional stories. Our guide contains the information you need to start the quest and find all the necessary information to help Wilhelmina.
How to Start Every Rose Has Its Thorn
To start this quest, you first need to complete An Unsettling Encounter, where you'll be introduced to Wilhelmina. Then head to the Rose Chateau Bordelrie located between the Noble Quarter and Vernworth Castle.

Take the stairs up to the top floor and head toward the double doors to trigger a scene of Wilhelmina helping you out. She'll hide you from the guards searching for you while showing you a peephole that allows you to look into another room.
After this experience, raise Wilhelmina's affinity by giving her gifts, such as bouquets of flowers. Eventually her dialogue will change, prompting her to muse on her standing in life.
Once this happens, you'll need to leave and return another day, where you'll find an attendant named Rolf letting you know that Wilhelmina is occupied.
Head up to her room and utilize the peephole in the corner of her room to see Wilhelmina with Allard in a short scene. Afterwards, Wilhelmina will finally give you her request: help her kill Allard.
Investigating Allard
While you or she could easily kill Allard without much fuss, Wilhelmina wants to ruin Allard's reputation before she does, so that he won't be remembered fondly. She gives you three days to investigate his possible wrongdoing. Luckily, our guide will help you discover all the evidence you need in a single evening. If any of your pawns have experience with this quest, they'll suggest looking for people familiar with events in Vermund Castle. By now, you'll have two reliable sources of information: Captain Brant and Sven, Disa's son.
Evidence from Brant

Head to the tavern in Vermund at night to discuss the matter with Captain Brant. He'll point you to the nearby neighborhood, informing you of an investigation of bribery into Allard. Captain Brant will also offer more help if you give him your vow not to kill Allard; as the captain he abhors corruption, but he also doesn't want to help in an assassination plot. It's best to refuse his help for Wilhelmina's sake.
Head west from the tavern to the building south of the barber. You can also head through the grand riftstone building and the building you're looking for will be right outside the southwest entrance. Inside the home you'll find a document labelled Bribery Investigation Findings.
Return to Brant with the document and debrief him on the situation, then head to Vermund Castle to find the next piece of evidence.
Evidence from Sven
For the second piece of evidence head to Vermund Castle and speak to Sven. You can find him in his room most of the day, which is located in the western corner of the castle's second floor. He'll point you to Sir Patrick's home on the west side of the Noble Quarter.
When you visit Patrick he will offer to help you with your investigation.
First he mentions that there's something peculiar about the paintings hanging in Allard's home, but he also offers to distract him for you. If you accept his offer, you'll automatically initiate his distraction, allowing you to enter Allard's home.

You can find a few items throughout the home, but for the evidence you need for Wilhelmina can be found upstairs through the door closest to the stairs.
You can interact with the small round painting above a drawer in the corner to discover another document labelled Murder Report.
Leave as soon as possible and head to the Bordelrie to give the evidence to Wilhelmina.
Returning to Wilhelmina
When you give Wilhelmina the evidence, she'll ask again if you want to follow through with this plot.
If you confirm, she'll ask you to enter the room next to hers and detain Allard.

This will trigger a scene with him and Wilhelmina, after which you'll have to escape by leaping from her balcony, which is safe due to some conveniently placed hay down below.
The guards will be hostile toward you, so you'll need to leave the city for a little while. Head out of the city and head to the nearest campfire you can find to pass the time, then return after a day or two. For the last time, return to the Bordelrie to meet with Wilhelmina. You'll trigger one more cutscene and the ending of the quest, where you'll receive 8,500 G and a Ring of Benevolence.
